X-Cel Worldwide Signs
"Dangerous" Dorin Spivey
Promoter Nick Garone of X-Cel Worldwide has signed newly crowned NABA Lightweight Champion “Dangerous” Dorin Spivey (36-6, 29 KOs) from Portsmouth, Virginia, to a promotional agreement.
The battle-tested Spivey came into Garone’s radar with his sensational fourth-round stoppage of X-Cel fighter Meacher Major on November 6. “With such an electrifying knockout of a top-rated opponent like Meacher Marjor, Dorin Spivey reminded the boxing world what a formidable force he remains at lightweight,” said Garone of the victory. What impressed me was not just the power he has in his punches, but also the hellacious shots he absorbed to deliver them.”
In a career spanning 16 years, Spivey has gone to war with several top names in the sport and always accounted well for himself. Garone says the acquisition of Spivey means that with some strategic movement, he now has a one-two punch at the world lightweight championship with Spivey and Major. “Dorin has been mostly inactive in the past couple years and he’s been fluctuating his weight all the way up to welterweight at times. He and I have come to an agreement that he’s a lightweight. That’s where his power and his chin are at their most “Dangerous” I’ll be looking to put him and Meacher into the right fights to make them both champions. They’re both very exciting fighters to watch.” |
