Born in the 1990s to a Grunge Rock father and a Hair Metal mother, Mr. Muggs was a well-known travelling circus of music and mayhem that tore up the live music scene in Windsor/Essex County.

Now, nearly 20 years later and renamed The Sellouts to capture their newfound willingness to compromise on song selection, the boys are back. Guitarist Paul Cadarian, Bassist Terry Thompson, Drummer Jaymz Hughes and Singer Andre Courtemanche are looking to pick up where they left off by bringing party and dance rock to fans hungry for a band that can deliver an all-around helluva good time.

From the funky glam rock scene of the 1970s to Kid Rock’s latest, The Sellouts deliver a unique mix of live show dazzle and strong musicianship that will get today’s jaded audiences out of their seats and back on the dance floor.

BAND BETWEEN A ROCK AND A SOFT PLACE

After years of performing other bands' songs, Windsor's The Sellouts are ready to find their own voice.

"We grew up as a cover band and we always had fun with it but we have reached that pinnacle where we are playing with more famous bands now so we want to be able to showcase our stuff," said vocalist Andre Courtemanche.

Consisting of Courtemanche, Paul Cadarian on guitar, Terry Thompson on bass and Ron McManus on drums, the band originally formed in 1993 and played heavily for two years before burning out.

After a 14-year hiatus The Sellouts reconnected and are now on the rise.

"We opened for Jackyl and Karen Newman at the Pontiac Silverdome a couple of weeks ago and watching the effect their music has on people, I just woke up and thought that we have to do this," Courtemanche said.

"When you're out there playing someone else's songs it's their songs, it's their art. We want to show what our personality is."

The band will be heading south in January to perform on the Karen Newman Heart of Michigan Caribbean Cruise.

"The cruise is to celebrate the awesome music that comes out of Detroit and surrounding area, sports and the people of Detroit," said Newman, the Detroit-based vocalist familiar to sports fans for her numerous appearances singing the national anthem at big-league games.

"I met the guys and we just clicked. They are just hysterical, they are so much fun, they're great musicians but they're also a great group of people."

Cadarian said the band currently has four original songs and intends to release a full- length album in the near future.

The Sellouts will be playing Saturday at 10:30 p.m. with special guest Newman at Casa's Nightclub, 2477 Dougall Ave.

Catch The Sellouts with '80s rockers Jackyl on Sept. 17 at the Blind Dog. Doors open at 9 p.m. and you must be 19 or older to attend the $25 event.
